Prairieville woman booked in fatal crash in Gonzales
A 28-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with negligent homicide after she allegedly ran a red light while speeding and struck another vehicle, according to the Gonzales Police Department.
Lucero Dominquez, of Prairieville, was booked on a count of negligent homicide, three counts of negigent injuring, one count of speeding and one count of traffic control signals.
Joey McClendon, also of Prairieville, died on Feb. 28 after suffering injuries from the two-vehicle crash in Gonzales on Feb. 15.
Dominquez, who was driving a 2001 GMC Yukon, allegedly ran the red light at the intersection of La. Highway 429 and Airline Highway, and struck the side of a 2013 Nissan Altima, according to police.
McClendon, who was the driver, was one of five people injured in the two-vehicle crash. According to a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for the family, McClendon was riding in the car with his wife Ragan and their two sons. Ragan was also hospitalized in critical condition.
Lucero’s misdemeanor bonds have been set at $1,268. Her bond for the negligent homicide charge has yet to be set.
