EBRSO: Deputy shoots man after call of a woman being held against her will.
Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that sent a man to the hospital early Thursday morning.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office said it was called out to Northdale Drive in the Greenwood Estates subdivision just before 5 a.m.
The neighborhood is located east of the Baton Rouge Metro Airport.
Casey Rayborn Hicks, spokeswoman for EBRSO, said the Baker Police Department received a call that a woman was possibly being held against her will at a home on Northdale. Baker PD then contacted sheriff’s deputies.
According to Hicks, responding deputies encountered a man armed with a weapon and one of the deputies shot him. She added the man was taken to the hospital with an injury not believed to be life-threatening.
“We have a very thorough investigative process when there’s a deputy-involved shooting, so we’re going to do that investigation and once we receive all of those details, we’ll release them,” Hicks said.
The names of those involved have not been released.
The shooting and the circumstances that led to the initial 911 call are still being investigated.
